Inner Beauty Unleashed: Rescue Dog with Autoimmune Condition Defies Odds and Proves True Beauty Comes from Within

Give Phoenix some love!

The story of the Phoenix began over a year ago when he was a.ban.do.ned as Summer. He would attract attention whenever people saw him roaming the streets looking for food. However, any potential help quickly faded when people took a closer look at Phoenix’s face. Unfortunately, this has led to a lot of people referring to it as [fre.ak.ish] or [ho. rrifying]. Fortunately, some people were more than willing to look past his appearance to lend him a hand.

The folks with Skiatook Paws & Claws Animal Rescue in Oklahoma didn’t hesitate to come to rescue the person or dog when they got a call about it.

When Operation Rescue encountered Phoenix, it was clear he was someone’s pet. However, it was also apparent that due to his neglected state, his previous owners had done nothing to ensure he was adequately cared for.

The Rescue still has no idea why Phoenix is so unique. When he was found, he wasn’t shy around humans at all — quite the opposite. It is clear to them that no matter what he has suffered in his past, his light has not been dimmed even one bit.

Skiatook Paws & Claws posts regular updates on Phoenix’s journey on the road to healthy living. He captured the hearts of many on social media, and people even donated towards his mounting medical bills.

The Department of Family Animal Medicine works hard to assist Phoenix in any way we can. Part of the way they helped him, though, is that they narrowed things down to Phoenix most likely having an autoimmune disease – though they’re not entirely sure which one yet. But the overall good news is that Phoenix is now a lot better than when it first came out.

And there was an outpouring of support from dog lovers in the community – including some offers for adoption.

While the rescue is extremely grateful to the kind individuals who have expressed interest in adopting Phoenix, they had to explain to let community members know that if Phoenix is adopted, it will be a while – the focus now is to keep him healthy.

Phoenix is a dog with a beautiful soul who, unfortunately, doesn’t often get a chance to show that because not many people can get over his outward appearance. All he wants is what any dog wants – to be loved

God rest his soul, he’s over the rainbow bridge now, but he found a loving home for his last days. It was so beautiful
