According to Mr. Phuong, the above cassava tree was grown by his family for more than three years on a field in Ngo May ward. Because the cassava grows on the edge of the border, it is neglected and not harvested. Therefore, the tree grows naturally, without care or fertilizer.
To dig up the cassava bush, Mr. Phuong hired 3 people to dig for nearly 2 hours. Through inspection, the cassava tree has about 20 individual tubers, the longest tuber is about 1.3m long, weighing nearly 10kg. When weighed, the total weight of the cassava tubers was 60kg. If you add in the broken tubers, the weight would reach nearly 70kg.
Mr. Phuong said this was the biggest cassava his family had ever seen in his life. The wheat bush is currently kept by the family. As for the tree trunk, the family plans to use it as seed for the next crop.
